A sample of n-type InSb 0.25 x 0.21 x 0.05 mm3 (n = 9.1.1013 9 P = 7.5-105 cm2/volt-second, T = 77* K) was used as the detector element. The volt-watt sensitivity K = U/Pc (the ratio of the voltage at the modulation frequency to the signal power absorbed in the detector) was investigated by Leasurements on a frequency of 3 and 150 gigahertz with a modulation frequency of 1,000 hertz. Two characteristic regions are isolated on the curve obtained for the volt-watt sensitivity as a function of the bias. One corresponds to an increase in the resistance with an increase in the field (E < 160 volts/cm), and the other, a drop in the resistance (E > 160 volts/cm). The boundary of value of the field E = 160 volts/cm is the characteristic field for which a significant change in concentration begins in the n-InSb at 77' K (0. Madelung, Fizika poluprovodnikovykh soyedineniy elementov III i V grupp , Mir, Moscow, USSR GENKIN, V. N., et al.9 Izvestiya vysshikh uchebnykh zavedeniy, Radiofizika, Vol XV, No 9, 1972, pp 1417-1419 1967]. In the first region the detection effect is caused by the dependence of the electron mobility on the field. The maximum volt-watt sensitivity in this region k - 10 volts/watt. For the E > 160 volts/cm fields, the detection effect is connected with the dependence of the concentration on the field. The volt-watt sensitivity of the detector does not in practice depend on the signal power or Pc < P0* The limiting sensitivity Plimit is estimated at Plimit ~3-10- 1 watts in the pre-breakdown region and P limit ~ 4.10- 12 watts in the post-breakdown region. Thus, the detector is inferior with respect to limiting sensitivity to the detector introduced by A. N. ystavkin, et al. ~FTP, Vol 1, No 6, 844, 19671 which operates at a temperature of 4.2' K, but its advantages are the possibility of operating at 77* K and its low inertia. 212 027 LASSIFIED PROCESSING DATE--27NOV70 UNC COMBINATIONAL SCATTERING OF LIGHT -U- ,.-AUTHOR--GENKIN, V.M. Two-Photon Absorption and SpectroBcopy" Foscow, Uspekhi Fizicheskikh Nauk, Vol i10, No 1, MY 73, PP 3 - 43 Abstract: This survey is devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of two-photon absorption in various media and its role in the spectroscopy of molecules, molecular crystals, and semiconductors, Chapter 2 contains a general analysis of an approximate description (considering two or several levels or zones of two-quantum transitiono. It is shown that when considering two-quantum absorption it is more convenient to use the energy of interaction with the field E in the form 04, where d is the dipole moment. Chapter 3 describes an experi- mental method used in measuring the values and spectra of two-photon absorption and an analysis of the characteristics of a two-photon absorption experinent in various media. Chapter 4 contains a discussion of the nature of two-photon molecular and molecular crystal apectra. It is shown that two-quantum transitions are of an electron-oscillatory nature. A detailed comparison is made between the theory given and experiments available in the literature. The last chapter con- tains a discussion of two-photon absorption in semiconductors and ionic crystals, 112 - 50 - USSR BIEDMIN) V. Series" Al-na-Ata,, Izvestiya Akademii Nauk Kazakhskoy SSR: Seriya, Fiziko-l-latematicheskaya; November-Decenber, 1972; pp 6-13 ABSTRACT: The shapes of the spectra of the characteristic electron energy losses during reflection from large samples of metals of the yttrium-palladium series were determined. The calculations were made on the ass=Vtion that the most probable types of characteristic electron energy loss in the kilovolt range are one type of energy loss by surface excitation and three by internal excita- tion. The parameters of the first inelastic peaks of all four types of charac- teristic electron energy loss for which the calculated apectra agree satisfac- torily with the experLmental ones were determined. The energy losses at the surface of a sample are related to the excii;ation of surface plasmons. The first and second types of internal los5es are related to the excitations of the plasma of the collective electrons and collective excitations of the locally bound electrons respectively. The question of the authenticity and nature of the third type of internal loss is discussed. The article incliides two 'ligii-res aM two tables. There are 16 reLerences. The L'~, band of Nb and KOK band of C in niobium monocarbide are broken clown into components subject to the rigid requirements of the CLC model on the equality of the general energy parameters of both bands. Ideas about collective, locally bonding, and core electrons are used to interDret the emission bands of niobium and carbon. Band sha-oe distortions are taken into consideration and the parameters of the paris of these bands that reflect electron states are de- termined. The width of the energy zone of collectivized electrons is on the order of 7 ev, correspond- ing to a concentration of - 1.6 + 0.2 almost-free electrons per atom of the alloy. "A Cold Cathode Based on Single-Crystal Whiskers" Moscow, Radiotekhnika i Elektronika, Vol 16, No 7, Jul 71, pp 1250-1253 Abstract: A multipointed autoelectronic cathode is developed with a working surface made up of single-crystal whiskers formed on a flat field by conden- sation of a material from the vapor phase. It is found that gold and nickel crystals from the densest groups of whiskers when condensed from the vapor phase. Preliminary results are given from tests of cathode speci'mens. It is expected that when it becomes possible to test these cathodes with a voltage pulse duration of 10-15 ns, a high level of working current and stability of operation over long periods will be achieved. 1/1 - - - - - -- - - - 112 023 UNCLASSIFIED PROCESSING OATE--30OCT70 TITLE-EFFECT OF TEST CONDITIONS UN A COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF THE WEAR RESISTANCE OF TIRES -U- AUTHOR-104)-GENNIKH M E., GUSLITSER, R.L., ZAKHAROV, S.P., MISHNEV, G.V. Both homologous and heterologous adenovirus hyperiamune sera specific for the individual serological groups yielded positive cross immunofluorescent reactions with all adenovrius types I through 6. UP to 50% of the eel-Is became fluroescent in about 3 days, showing that the virus antigeas were located mainly inside the nuclei and only occasionally around the nuclei. Complement fixation tests were also positive with both homologous mid heterolo-ous antisera, It was concluded that the immunofluoreacence method can be used for a quick diagnosis and -,Toup differentiation of adeno- virus strains. 1/1 USSR SIMONOV, V. (Chemical Plant Protective Agents) Moscow vyp 3, 1973, pp 144-148 (from RZh-Khtmiya, no 20, Oct 73, Abstract No 20H520) Translationt The quantitative determination method for phenol (1) and phenoxyacetic acid (L1) is based On potentiometric titration in a nonaqueous medium. Initially I and II are extracted from the reaction zixture by a solvent mixture of Et2O and dibutylphtallate (85sl5). DRFA was the best solvent for the titration, the titrating agent consisted of 0.1 N solution of tetraethylammonium hydroxide in isopropy! alcohol. A blank run performed under analogous conditions determined the content of free amines present in DWA. The relative error in determining II in artificial mixtures is + 1%, of the phenol + ?%. 1/1 41 "030 UNCLASSI FIE0 PROCESSING DATE--13NOV70 TITLE--lKJN, COPPER AND C06ALT METABOLf SA IN THE GkGAN'ISM OF 01-IGS FOLLIOWN'li~ EXTENSIVE RESECTHYN OF TH", SI.ALL iNTC-STING -U- AUTHOR- (32) -S EINYUTOV I CH, V.F., GENYK, S.N, COUNTRY OF INFO--USSR SOURCE-PATCLOGICHESKAYA FILIOLOGIYA I EKSPEKIMENTALINAYA TE._~APIYA, L970, VOL 14t NK 3, PP 51-55 DATE PUBLIStiEL) ------- 70 SUBJECT ARFAS--HIOLOGICAL AINO MEDICAL SCIENCES ToPiC TAGIS-SMALL INTESTINEt SURGERYv IRONt COPPER, CIMALT, AETABOLSIM, 006, 300Y 14EIGHTf TRANSFER.IMIt ANEMIA CG'4TROL MARKINIG--NO kESTRICTIONS DOCUMENT CLASS--UINCLASSIFfEU PROXY RE-_":L/FRAME--J002/0627 STEP 4N(J--Ui-',/0396/70/014/003/0051/,~055 CIRC.
