Abstract: Samples of soils from various A and B horizoas wern treated witb
dalapon (transliterated) and sodium trichloroacetate av,d otorod various
lengths of time before analysis. The deactivation of tl~a herbicides were
determined biologically. Four measurements were mhde at intervals of 11 to
13 months. Barley was grown repeatedly until ther* was no sil,'nificant
difference between that grown on treated soil (equivalent to !iD kg1hect.-kre)
and on untreated sail (the control). Both the various h6rizoas and the
different compounds exerted different Influences on the 1;rowth. of the
barley but there was no evidence that the herbicides deqmrposgA with time
tmder these particular storage conditions.
