Abstract: The influence of layers of octadecylamine and cetyl alcohol on the surfaces of dispersed particles on the process of formation of contacts in porous dispersed structures arising upon pressing of NaC1 powders is studied. All of the layers studied, regardless of their thickness, prevent contact between NaCl particles due to valent forces, i.e., hinder the forma- tion of phase contacts with NaCI-NaCl contact surfaces, and reduce the strength of the structure produced. The greatest screening effect is achieved at a certain critical particle compression force. The screening effect is independent of layer thickness. The heat treatments consisted of the following for each alloy: W.0-1, 2.5-m-thick sheet -- aged at 1700C for 16 hours; 1)16, e-mm-thick sheet, ruiturally aged and aged at 1900C for 8 hours; Me% flheet 1-8 M, thick, naturally aged and aged at 1600C for 12 hours; D16, extruded rod 100 mm in diameter, naturally aged and aged at 1900C for eight hours; and VAE23, extruded strip 54 wm thick, aged at 160oC for .12 hours. The 24-hour cultures of ye-ast were mixed with silica gel or with silica gel containing one of the following compounds: 10 milligrams 'liter of FeS04.7 1120 or b1nSO 7 1120, or 6 milligrams/liter of 4' ZnS04.7 H201 COC12.6 H20, N11003, or (W[4)2MOO4. The mixtures were dried and stored in sealed ampules for 1, 6 or 12 months at room temperature. The yeast survived in all mixtures, but the mixtures of silica gel contai-ning FeSO.4 or MnS04 gave the best survival and retained best their capability to oxidize carbohydrates even after one year of storage, which indicated that their oxidizing function was preserved.
