processes in real time, produced on the basis of the theory of random excursions.
It is demonstrated that the algorithm suggested is most effective in those cases
where the volume of a priori information concerning the Tandom process being
studied is slight.

Translation: The objective and subjective sides of the problem are con-
sidered. It is proposed that limitations be introduced om variations in
certain features of the image -- brightness, contrast, redistribution of
half-tones - and that image quality be ju4ed from the total effect of
these characteristics on the eye. A criterion i0 selectedJor evaluation
under subjective conditions -- the opinion of the,-,xve~rage viewers. An ex-
periziental method in described and an example is-given whIph illustrates

Translation: Mis article contains an investigation of the possibility of
using the 1MFUR (International Radio Consultative Corulitteel syscew for an
electric image transmission channel. It is demonstrated that it is neces-
sary to increase the number of parameters to estimate the nature of the
nonlinear distortions of the individual elements of this channel and also
to have the possibility of future summing of the introduced nonlinearities.
An appro%imate analytical method is proposed which permits calculation of
the total nonlinear distortions of the electric image transmission channel
with respect to the characteristics.of the electric elements for cases of
linear and quadratic variation of the values of the difforential equation
of individual elements.
