AESTRACT% The administration of the kolkhoz "Nov--y Byt", in
conjunction with the Academy of Agricultural S,-ienc-
es of the BSSR, elatorated plans for increasing the
yields of field crops and the returns from animal
husbandry. Special attention will be paid to the
growing of fodder, such as corn for silage, and the
growing of vegetables and fruit. A.P. Lagat6kiy,
manager of the kolkhoz, gave the 1957 returns of
various field crops per hectare. grain - 22 cent-
ners, potatoes- 160 centners, corn foliage - 350
centners. By 1965, the following yields are expect-
ed: grain - 28-~9 centners, potatoes - 175-200
centners, vegetahle - 308-355 centnerB, corn - 500-
700 centners. Construction of 21 buildings is plar-

returns will be -;rif,-reased from 3.5 million rubles
(at present), to 11 million rubles in 1961. The
kolkhoz "Novyy Byt" has been visited by N.S. Khru-

TITLE: The effect of the movement of a solution on the purity of the ob-

PERIODICAL: Ukrainskiy khimicheskiy zhurnal, v. 29, no. 1, 1963, 7 - 11
TEXT: The influence of mixing a sclution'during crystallization on the
chemical purity of the obtained crystals in the presence of a nonisomorphic,
iqomorphic, or isodimorphic admixture under mass-cryst&llization conditions was
investigated in the Sverdlovskiy NIIEhDMSh (Sverdlovsk NIIKhIMASh). This work
was carried out in continuation of earlier studies (Zh. Priki. Kh., v. 25, 1?52,
1,157; and v. 27, 1954, 148). Isohydric crys~tallization of aqueous solutions
of the following systems of anorganic salts was investigated: K4Fe(17N)6 - 3M20
and KNO In the presence of nonisomorphic KCI; NH4Al(SO4)2 ' 12HnO In the pre-
sence o? the Isomorphic admixture NH4Fe(804"2 - 12H2-0; CUS04 - 5H,-)O and the

rpm of the stirrer). Granulometric and chemical analyses of the obtained crys-
tals were carried out. The results obtained are discussed on the basis of lite-
rature data, considering the relation between the mixing effect and the equil~b-
rium coefficient of distribution Dequil. 1,"re/Cm (Cs and Cm are the concenba-
tions of the microcomponent in the solid phase and in the mother liquor). It is
demonstrated that an increa.~;e in the mixing rate effects a systematic and con-
siderable decrease of the cuntent of the admixture in the ciystals with Lequil.4
< 1. while the opposite effect was observed 'In crystallizations of isomorphic
salts with Dequil. > 1. These observations are explained theoretical2y. An
important technical conclusion is made by stating that sometimes expensive mu'Lt-'-
ple recrystallizations can be avoided by applying a single crystallization run
under suitable hydraulic conditions. There are I figure and I table.

TITIE: An Improvement in the Design of the Hot Blast Valve
(Uluchsheniye konstruktsii klapana goryr-chego d-ut' 3179,)
FERIODTCAL: Stall, 1957, No.12, Pp. 1073 - 10?6 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: An improved des--'gn of the hot blast valve, develope-' on
the baBis of studies of the flow of cooling water on trans-
parent models is described and illustrated. Model studies
indicated the existence of air locks in the old system; these
were removed by re-designing the system. The other cause of
failure was found to be the accumultion of dirt in the coolinE
system which was not completely removed by re-designinp. As a
preventive measure, monthly washing of valves with hiEh-
pressure water and blov.,ing -.ith compressed air were introduced.
The new design of the ',:it blast valve is shown in Fic-5. Th e
valv8s of new design operated with blast temperatures 850 to
900 C for one year wilho!it failure, while dur~nG the -)revious
year when the blast teriperature of ?30 to 750 C was maintained
12 valres failed. The followin6 participeted in the work:
I.S. Lyulenkov, I.F. 3),-mnitskiy, F.Ye. fakovlev and
G.F. Rybochkin. There are 5 figures.

The authors stuLlied conditions of tungstenite decomposition -with
N&OH solutione and soda in an open apparatus and autoclave. The authors cons'ider
the use of an autoclave to be non-expedient. OptJmum conditions are determined
for tunggtenite decomposition with NaOH by a single procedure in an open appara-
tus, namelyt concentration of the solution 400 g/1 N&OH; temperaturer-,/1180c;
duration 8 hourej N&OH consumption - 115-130% of the theoretiially required
amount. The technical and economical comparison of tungstenite processing by
tI-e sintering and the NaOH-deoomposition method shown the advantage of the latter
due to loaner labor consumption and simplicity of 4quipment. The cost price of
tungstennte anhydride is p1ractically equal for both cases.
