Approved For Release 2003/05/27 : CIA-RDP86-00964R000100040007-6 BENEFITS OF ASSOCIATION BENEFIT PLAN IMPROVED FOR 1968 As a participant of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, GEHA contracts with the U. S. Civil Service Commission for the Association Benefit Plan and, by Commission regulation, must negotiate any changes of benefits or rates by August of the year preceding that in which the changes become effective. Aware of the steadily advancing hospital room and board charges, GEHA foresaw a need for increased coverage of this expense and last August contracted for an increased basic benefit of $40 per day, to become effective 1 January 1968. As in the past, GEHA has continued its policy of keeping Associa- tion Benefit Plan premiums below that of the two government-wide plans; however, the added protection against rising hospital cost necessarily :resulted in an increase in 1968 premiums which had to be born by the employee.
