SUBJECT: Meeting with '.fr. Briggs
14 FEB 1973
1. Per }4T. Blake's recommendation, der. Briggs requested
a briefing on 12 February 73 to ascertain the utilities support
impact and constraints on a proposed computer center move.
2. In essence, the proposal is to consolidate OEL into
the CRS computer space. What is loft of CR SHill move into OCS.
Space will he made in OCS by removing three computers, one of
which is the RCA Spectra. It appeared on the surface that the
net increase in utility demands would be zero; therefore, utility
support would offer no constraints to the proposed move. It was
explained that OCS is by far the poorest of the computer centers
in that it has inherent limitations in providing an environment
specified by most computer manufacturers. Photographs were shown
indicating the congestion beneath the computer floor, and it was
explained that OCS has no humidification control whereas the other
computer centers have humidification control, better air distri-
bution systems, aid less congestion.
3. It is my opinion that '`Jr. Briggs is going to continue
efforts with the objective of receiving approval for the recom-
mended move. 14 r. Briggs asked for budgetary estimates, and I
stated that as far as utilities arc concerned a couple thousand
minimum up to $50,000 if power feeders would have to be uprated.
