Approved For Release 2002/09/05 : CIA-RDP86-01019R00Q200060053-0 MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Logistics SUBJECT : Project SAFE Mike: Per our discussions, I have read the SAFE report in some detail and believe that this project will be implemented at least in reduced form. I agree with your recommendation that an Office of Logistics (OL) representative should be on the task force proposed for the system design STATINTL phase- I would further propose that (because of his ROD experience with OTS) be our nominee for this position. He would, of course, be instructed to involve LSD, PD, PSD, and other elements of OL as required. I was only able to obtain two additional copies of the report. I have sent one directly to PSD and the second is attached hereto for eventual transmittal to PD when the O-D/L is finished with it. Also attached for your information is a copy of Dave's estimate based entirely on the summary sheet (attached to the estimate). As we discussed, I agree that this estimate is low and that, based on information available, only a ball- park guess. I further agree that $3 million represents a better number than the attached $2,188,000 but would be unwilling to hang my hat on any number pending agreement on the SAFE system design and a detailed facilities engineering analysis thereof.
