Subject: Senate Hearing on World Petroleum Outlook
References: My MFRS dated 9 Jan 84, 6 Jan 84, & 21 Dec 83.
Howard Useem, Professional Staff Member of the Senate
Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on
Energy Regulation, requested a pre-hearing session with
Agency personnel planning our testimony for subject hearing
on 27 Jan 84.
An appointment was arranged for Useem with
Chief of DDI/NESA's Persian Gulf Branch, for Tuesday,
24 Jan 84 in room 7G00. Useem said he would only need an
hour of time. 0 diplomatically suggested he
would be pleased to have Useem as his lunch guest.
Useem mentioned that his DOD contacts requested a copy of
the Agency's testimony as soon as it was ready so that it
could be prepared to answer the "threat" issues raised in our
paper. Useem wisely referred them to CIA/OLL. No call has
been received to date.
The CIA publications Useem requested (see MFR dated 9 Jan
84) will be delivered to him at the time of his pre-hearing
discussion at Headquarters (24 Jan 84), assuming his
clearances are OK for the publications requested. (Hill
delivery later by LL/SL.)
