RE: Testimony Regarding Polygraph
I have been designated to represent the Department of
Justice at hearings before a subcommittee of the House Government
Operations Committee on October 19, 1983. The hearings are
expected to focus on use of the polygraph and prepublication
review.
Enclosed is a rough draft of that portion of my prepared
statement regarding the polygraph. DOD has requested that we
make such a comprehensive statement on this matter and the NSC
staff agrees.
I am circulating this rough draft now in order to solicit
your substantive comments. A more polished version of the
prepared statement will be submitted to OMB for formal clearance
next week.
It is essential that I have any comments on this draft no
later than Friday, Octob-r 7. In addition, I have scheduled a
meeting to discuss these issues at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October
7, in Room 6744, at the Department of Justice. You are invited
to attend or send a representative.
