I see you have already heard from Bob Magee in response to your letter to
President Reagan.
The only thing I can add to update that is my understanding that the SSCI
is considering an amendment to Section 605 of the Civil Service Retirement
Spouse Equity Act of 1984 that would, if followed by a new Executive Order by
the President, provide former spouses of CIARDS participants who have not
qualified for benefits under the CIA Spouse Equity Act with the same level of
benefits provided to former spouses of Civil Service participants provided
they meet the eligibility criteria for benefits under the Civil Service
Retirement Spouse Equity Act. Whether that would be helpful to you or not, of
course, depends on your particular situation.
Our personnel folks will certainly let you know if any measure is enacted
that favorably affects you.
