1. The DDS&T is committed to finding new sources and
techniques in identifying minority applicants.

ment of blacks and hispanic students majoring in scientific
and technical fields is relatively high) may be helpful
in increasing this Directorate's minority applicants for

2. We have found the Student Trainee Program valuable
in giving us a four-year period whereby we have the oppor
tunity to acquaint the student with our activities and
observe his/her quality of work and at the same time provide
a salary in enabling him/her to acquire an education. We
would like to encourage Office of Personnel's efforts in
pursuing the expansion of the program to the West Coast and
are ready to help in any way we can.
