SUBJECT . Economic, Political and Social Consequences of
Urbanization in Less Developed Countries,
Thursday, 20 September 1979
1. On the Director's behalf, you are invited to participate in a
discussion/dinner on the above subject in the DCI conference room (7D64)
on the date and time appointed. We will examine as comprehensively as
we can the social, economic, and political forces unleashed by exploding
urban growth and their effects on political stability.
2. The following have been invited from outside and have accepted.

3. Our discussion will be led off by Dr. Joan Nelson who will
speak briefly on the implications of rapid urban growth in the Third
World.
4. The plan for the evening is as follows: The company will assemble
in the DCI conference room between 5:30 and 6:00. Refreshments will be
served. Our discussion will begin at 6:00 and continue until 7:00 when
dinner will be served. After dinner, about 7:30, we shall resume the
discussion and continue until about 8:30. If you are unable to attend,
please call extension
