On the Director's behalf, you are invited to participate in a discussion/dinner on the above subject in the DCI conference room (7D64) on the date and time appointed. We will examine as comprehensively as we can the social, economic, and political forces unleashed by exploding urban growth and their effects on political stability. 2. The following have been invited from outside and have accepted. Dr. Brian J. L. Berry, Harvard University Dr. Joan Nelson, Johns Hopkins University Mrs. Nelle Temple, Assistant to Katherine Graham Samuel Eaton, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Inter-American Affairs, Department of State Donald Sherk, Senior Economist for Bank Policy, Office of International Development Banks, Treasury Department 3. Our discussion will be led off by Dr. Joan Nelson who will speak briefly on the implications of rapid urban growth in the Third World. 4. The plan for the evening is as follows: The company will assemble in the DCI conference room between 5:30 and 6:00. Refreshments will be served. Our discussion will begin at 6:00 and continue until 7:00 when dinner will be served. After dinner, about 7:30, we shall resume the discussion and continue until about 8:30.
