Approved For Rel a 2005/03/24: CIA-RDP86B00985ROQQ 00250026-6 THE DIRECTOR OF CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE WASHINGTON, D. C. 20505 17 March 1980 Dr. Michael Samuels Center for Strategic and International Studies 1800 K Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20006 Dear Mike: Further to our telephone conversation, I would like to invite you formally to come to the Director's dinner on Thursday, April 24, and to participate in an all-day conference on Friday, April 25. The subject of both meetings will be current developments in Nigeria with some emphasis on future estimates of Nigerian stability and progress. The Director's dinner will be hosted by Adm. Turner, and top officials of the Agency, including the Deputy Director, the Director of NFAC, the Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, and some analysts from the Agency, will attend. The Director usually invites special guests as he sees fit from other parts of the Intelligence Community. The meeting the following day, which will probably take place outside the building here, would be attended by analysts from our own shop, and representatives of State, DIA, and possibly other agencies. We would need to have you here at Headquarters around dinner time on April 24, and we would finish with the conference on the 25th in the late afternoon. Needless to say, the usual amenities of expenses for local transportation and consulting fee would be included. We hope to have Henry Bienen and possibly one other person from outside who are specialists on Nigeria attend both the dinner and the conference the next day. The latter would take the form probably of three two-hour sessions, the agenda of which will be worked out shortly.
