ios- 7 Approved Foi eIease 2002/05/29: CIA-RDP86B009$IMpp[31DO13AQ OGJVER N Pal ENT DATE: 8 April 1983 REPLY TO ATTN OF: AIS-P SUBJECT: Accreditation 1 \ /~ memoranctum OT& -7Qu 9) CL (1-7) I1 F$2 TO: All Faculty and Staff 1. On Tuesday, 29 March, Dr. Michael Reynolds, representing the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, made a one-day visit to DIC. The purpose of his visit was to determine the College's readiness for final evaluation for accreditation. 2. At the end of the visit, Dr. Reynolds told the Commandant that in his judgment the College is ready. Therefore a final three-day evaluation visit by a team of eight distinguished educators is now confirmed for May 2-4. 3. During the coming month, Dr. Keesing and I will schedule meetings with each Branch to discuss the upcoming visit, the areas that will be of key interest to the team, and what will be expected of faculty and staff. In order for everyone to be as fully informed as possible, two items will be made available for wide circulation. The first is the College's Self-Study Report, the written culmination of the past two years' work. The other is Middle States' Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education, which outlines the standards against which DIC will be judged. 4. It is a, credit to everyone at the College that we have reached the final stage of the accreditation process within the milestones that were established in 1981. As we head down the homestretch I know that the effort and commit- ment that each of you has contributed will be reflected in the team's findings. ROBERT L.
