Dear Mr, Rose, I shall be visiting Washington, D.C. in March of this year to attend the annual meeting of the Association for Asian Studies, In this connection I was wondering if I might ask for your assistance in meeting members of your Agency concerned with following current developments in Indochina. In 1972 I was accorded the privilege of meeting with and his assistant, I have in mind a discussion on the following topics: (1) Vietnam's foreign policy goals; (2) Vietnam's economy; (3) the Soviet-Vietnam relationship; (4) military assistance to Vietnam and (4) the Vietnam People's Army, In looking at my schedule (copy enclosed) I suggest the morning of Friday y Mar..,'. The purpose of my visit to the United States is to deliver a paper on "The Indochina Conflicts and Australia" to a panel on "The International Implications of the Indochina Conflicts", The panel will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, March 22nd. The AAS conference is being held at the Washington Hilton. Although we have corresponded in the past, please note that I am an American citizen permanently resident in Australia -where I am employed as a Lecturer in Politics at The Royal Military College - Duntroon, Australia's equivalent of West Point, I have a research andpublication interest in contemporary Indochinese politics.
