MEMORANDUM FOR: Associate Deputy Director for Intelligence
SUBJECT Request to Present Two Lectures at a
Columbia University Seminar
1. I request permission to present two lectures at
Columbia University on 3 and 4 December. The subject will
be Soviet foreign policy decision-making. The invitation to
present these lectures was extended to me by Professor
Marshall D. Shulman of Columbia University.
2. The first lecture will be given to the University
Seminar on Communism. The audience will include faculty
members from Columbia and area universities, senior fellows
of the Russian Institute, and the Institute on International
Change. Two foreign nationals will also attend--Professor
Alec Nave of Glasgow University and Professor Richard
Lowenthal of the Free University of Berlin. The second
lecture will be given to an upper-level undergraduate/
graduate course on Soviet foreign relations taught by
Professor Shulman.
3. It is understood that I will not discuss classified
information nor will I touch on any aspect of US policy. I
will be identified as a CIA employee.
