Dear Mr.
I am most pleased to learn that Mr. Paul Walsh will
come to Durham to be a guest speaker for History 697,
section 2.
This is a senior History major colloquium on a special
topic: espionage in history. The course has 16 or 17
students, all History majors at UNH. The students know
that a guest speaker is coming but they will not
know any details until the speaker appears in class
on November 6th Thursday, 2-4PI in the Social Science
Center,Rm 445, 4th floor. There will be no publicity.
My goals in this advanced history course are: to
enable students to view intelligence and espionage
in historical perspective; to view major issues
in these fields from several points of view, both
national and international; and to learn methods
of oral and written presentations of research projects,
specifically using cases from the history of intelligence.
I am pleased that Mr. Walsh will come to particfDpate
in our course and I will attempt to make sure that
the question and answer period following his talk
