Washington, D.C. 20505 STATI N.TL STATINTL This letter is the result of my discussion with Robert Zurschmeide concerning the attainment of a technical speaker from the agency to atlress students at Drexel University's Engineering and Science Day. Mr. Zurschmeide suggested that I present you with the facts concerning the day, and that I accept your recommendation. Basicly, Engineering and Science Day is run by the Federation. of Engineering and Science Societies (FESS) and has been held at our university for the past 28 years. This year, on February 22nd, Dr. Mario G. Salvadori a noted mathematician and civil engineer from Columbia University is to be our keynote speaker-. His topics "Technology, Ethics, and Society" will be presented to all engineering and science students in our school, numbering upwards of 900. After Dr. Salvadori's speech three technical sessions are held. The topics for these sessions are left to the individual, speakers, but they usually revolve. around the keynote speaker's topic. Much interest was expressed among the members of FESS in getting a speaker from the C.I.A. A suggested topic for that speaker could take the form of "Technology and the C.I.A." for example. Although the afternoon technical sessions are not usually as populated as the main speaker's address, you may expect that as many as 90 engineering and science students and professors will attend. The session may make use of audio visual aids or have a question/answer period at its conclusion. FESS, will reimburse you for your travel expenses on the day. You may call me directly at 215-222-9241 (preferably between 3s00 and 4:30 pm) , or you may write to the above address.
