1. In memo sent to you on 11 October 1983 we agreed
to provide you with the names of the foreign nationals on
the list that was provided by Columbia University. The

SUBJECT: Columbia University International Fellows
Visit to Headquarters 14 October 1983
1. Attached is a list of names and Social Security
numbers of a group of International Fellows and Adminis-
trative Officers from Columbia University, New York, N.Y.
who are visiting Washington, D.C. Several names on the
list are foreign nationals; we have been assured that they
will not attend the briefing on the 14th. We will provide
you with the names of the foreign nationals when, as
promised, we receive them from Columbia. The group will
be receiving unclassified briefings beginning at 9:00 a.m.
and ending at 12:00.
2. The group will arrive at Headquarters via their
own transportation. They are expected to depart the Agency
immediately following the briefings.

This letter is to confirm our briefing on Friday morning
October 14, 1983 at 9:00 a.m. I understand that in addition
to briefing on the NIEO there will be a speaker
or pane o speakers addressing Sino-Soviet relations as well
as a gentleman discussing the role of intelligence gathering
in U.S. foreign policy. I would appreciate it if when you have
finalized the speakers you would give me a call.
For your information, the International Fellows are fifty
of Columbia38 top gradw.ate students selected frpm the schools
of law, business, international affairs, and journalism, on the
basis of their academic achievement and leadership potential.
They participate in a year long interdisciplinary seminar on
U.S. foreign and defense policy? Twice each year the Fellows
visit Washington for a series of briefings with officials of
public and private institutions concerned with international
affairs.
Enclosed you will find a list of the Fellows and their
Social Security numbers as you requested. I look forward to
meeting with you again.
