Dear Mr. Casey:
As I listened to people from all over the country during
the past few months, I was impressed by their enthusiasm
for solving problems through private, voluntary efforts.
I am asking you to relay that message in your department
or agency during the final stages of this fall's Combined
Federal Campaign.
John Block, this year's CFC Chairman, has told me that
he is encouraged by the results so far. I understand,
however, that we still have more to raise in the short
time remaining before the Victory Luncheon, and I
encourage you to do your best.
Americans are the most generous people in the world.
Please make sure that every employee in your organiza-
tion has the opportunity to "catch the spirit of giving."
I am looking forward to hearing that we have met and
surpassed the $17.7 million goal for the National Capital
Area that was set some months ago. I know we can do
it.
