SUBJECT : CIRIS Study Group
1. The "in-house" CIRIS Study Group will meet at 0930 on
6 June. Participants should plan on all-day sessions on 6 and 7
June, perhaps extending to 8 and 9 June.
2. For background purposes, I am providing herewith copies
of correspondence exchanged between the DCI and the ASD(I) on
13 and 14 April 1972. This exchange led to Mr. Jim Vance being
designated as the ASD(I) member to join our study group. Mr. Vance,
however, has been unable to participate due to other commitments
and now indicates his earliest availability as August. Therefore,
Mr. Tweedy has directed that we should proceed as originally charged
to identify requirements of the IC Staff and design a "strawman"
management information system.
3. This task is to be accomplished as a matter of priority in
order that the "strawman" can be forwarded to ASD(I) prior to
1 July 1972.
- 4. Added features of the management information system will
be the incorporation of the CCPC facilities inventory and the inclusion
of a project codeword inventory. To represent the CCPC interests,
General Taylor will join us in our meetings.
5. Various papers have been prepared during recent weeks by
the Data Support Group Staff. These discuss certain features of the
management information system and also pose several questions as a
result of the amalgamation of data requirements previously stated by
25X1

the components of the IC Staff. Copies of these papers are provided
herewith and should be read by all participants prior to the 6 June
meeting.
6. The objectives of this renewed effort will be (a) to identify
and amalgamate all IC Staff requirements to be satisfied by a
management information system, and (b) to develop a "strawman"
system to satisfy these requirements.
