Dear Mr. Chairman:
When I testified before your Subcommittee on 10 May
1984, in support of H.R. 5164, you requested that CIA
representatives work with your staff in drafting a more
descriptive routine use statement for the Agency. I am
pleased that we were able to accomplish the task
expeditiously, and in that regard I would like to commend
Messrs. Gellman and Parisi for their expert assistance and
cooperation. As the new provision will serve the public
interest, preparations for publication are already
underway.
As you know, pursuant to the suggestions you made
at your meeting with John McMahon, the Deputy Director of
Central Intelligence, your staff has met with staff
members of the House Permanent Select Committee on
Intelligence and this A enc
I understand that a satisfactory
arrangement is being worked out. Again, I greatly
appreciate the cooperation of you and your staff on this
matter and look forward to early enactment of this
legislation.
