Thank you for your letter of 29 February to Mr. John McMahon concerning
who is interested in employment with this Agency after
his retirement in an overseas capacity.
STAT
Our Director of Personnel advises me that candidates for overseas
employment are usually assigned to the Washington area for a period of time
before being transferred overseas. Also, we could not guarantee assignment
to a certain overseas region--it would depend on the time an employee came
on board and what opportunities may be available at that particular time.
We make every effort to consider the employee's choice of location, but it
is not always possible to make an assignment on that basis. I should add
that normally overseas tours are for a period of two to three years.
In the event would like to be considered for employment with STAT
us in the Washington area that may lead to an assignment overseas, I am
enclosing a set of preliminary application forms. When the completed forms
are received, his qualifications will be reviewed by appropriate officials
to determine whether we have an opportunity for him commensurate with his
background and experience. He will be contacted directly when this review
has been completed.
