The Director of Central Intelligence has asked that I
respond to your letter of 22 June 1984 concerning our
processing procedures relative to staff applicants. Further, I
have seen to it that your observations regarding this activity
have been passed to those responsible.
Please be assured that Mr. Casey and other senior Agency
managers are very genuinely interested in the proper handling
of candidates for employment with this organization. Our
policies and procedures are very closely reviewed, and
everything possible is done to maintain this program as a
professional endeavor. We obviously wish to attract high
caliber officers who can contribute to our important national
security mission.
The Director is very appreciative of your words of support,
as well as your expressed concern for the Central Intelligence
