In recent weeks, the Yale College Republicans
have been considering the selection of a public fig-
ure to deliver an address to the Yale community as
our central event of the term. Of all the people we
have considered, we have decided that you are the man
we would most like to have highlight our semester.
It is therefore my great pleasure and honor to
invite you to speak to the Yale community at a meet-
ing sponsored by the Yale College Republicans. The
topic and format may be entirely of your own choosing,
though we would suggest a subject similar to "Intel-
ligence: America's First-Line of Defense." If you
agree to speak, we can discuss this and other proced-
ural matters at greater lengt:--.
We would like to schedule this event any time bet-
ween the second week of February and the last week of
April, 1984.
The Yale College Republicans are a chapter of the
National College Republicans, the single largest stud-
ent organization in America. On campus, the Yale CR's
have a membership approaching 200, and it is our pur-
pose to promote conservative ideas and Republican pol-
itical ends in every way possible - through conserv-
ative political activism, head-to-head debate with
the Left, and the advocacy of conservative political
ideas in intellectual forums. In addition, we take
an active role in supporting local Republican politics
