Mr. Alan Thompson, Chief of the National Archives and Records Service (NARS) Declassification Division, advised that the British are now following a more restrictive policy concerning the release of names of MI-5 and MI-6 personnel. Some apprehension was expressed that the OSS documents reviewed by a special team in the Classification Review Division (CRD) and then transferred to NARS might possibly contain British names. CRD has investigated this concern with knowledgeable personnel and are confident that we are in compliance with British policy throughout--even the more recent guidelines provided Mr. Thompson. Barring human error, there seems little chance of British names reaching the general public.
