COMMITTER ON ARMED SERVICES
September 60 1961
Honorable Allen Dulles, Director
Central Intelligence Agency
Washington 25, D.C.
Dear Mk. Director:
Confirming my conversation with you and General Cabello
I am glad the Central Intelligence Agency does not believe
it essential to continue the classification of the metals,
minerals and machine tool stockpile; and I would appreciate
your so informing Director Ellis of the Office of Civil
and Defense Mobilisation.
I might add that all other agencies Mk. Ellis told us
are directly connected with the stockpile are at least as
definite as are you that it is not essential to continue
this classification.
In that connection I have attached the statements made to
us by the other Departments in question.
I am glad to know of your position because it is my con-
viction that continuation of this policy of stockpile
classification is against the security of the United States.
SS/1
