Friday - 9 October 1959
Ed McCabe at the White House telephoned indicating
he had received a letter from Senator Henry M. Jackson with
what might be described as an interim report. He indicated
that others had received this letter and report and I informed
him we had also received it. McCabe indicated that most replies
were noncommittal acknowledgments and I indicated we had
done the same. He did state, however. that Gordon Gray added
in his reply the point that he did not believe there was lack of
coordination between Defense and State. McCabe requested that
before we release the two studies which we are doing for the
Jackson Subcommittee that the matter be discussed with Gordon
Gray.
