1. Attached for your review are twenty--mine dc-c.t.onents (146
pages) from the draft of the Department of State's Foreign.i?elation~;
of the United States, 1955-1957, Volume V. Germany surd Aust.ri,.a.
Upon review, the Classification Review Divi.-ion (CRD) ; ound thes '
pages to be of interest to CIA. Each page !:i: been rL-\. lowed by 01)
and on some deletions are recorranended by bracketing i r; red and
discussed on the attached Worksheet. Some of the attadlied c locumclWi
are forwarded because they discuss U. S. Government w.t.ion-, that
touch on CIA programs without the mention of (:IA. We recommend
release of these ducummits but forward there for your review to be
certain that nothing slips through that is classified.
2. CL4 has reviewed the entire 2,058 pages of Vol.wne V and
found only these 146 pages to be of interest to the D0. We have
found 160 pages which we are sending to the DI for their coordination.
If you wish to review the entire volume, or those pages sent to the
DI, please advise us and we will forward them to you.
3. We request that you review the attached documents as soon
as possible in order that we may return this material to the
Department of State. Please return the draft pages to CR1) along
