Fitzwater Deputy Director for Administration SUBJECT: . Weekly Report for Period Ending 27 May 1983 1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI: The Office of Security report on the Department of State's security enhancement program is being forwarded on 27 May. 2. Items/events of interest: b. A three-day workshop on "neurolinguistic programming" was conducted 14 - 16 May for Career Trainees (CTs), and was directed by Dr. Robert Klaus, Department of the Army psychologist. The program demonstrates various behavioral aspects significant in rapport building. The CTs' comments were generally favorable. We will further evaluate the results to determine if it should be included as a permanent segment of the CT program. c. The Principles of Analysis Course for CTs began on 23 May. This one-week course provides CTs with insight into the analytic process including research, organization, and the writing of intelligence. d. Representatives of the Office of Security provided a two-hour audio threat briefing on 18 May to students attending the National Security Agency's Communications Security Course. A Contingency Configuration Plan which establishes minimum standards of contingency readiness for Agency Communications facilities has been promulgated to the field. This is part of the continuing effort to make the network as resilient as possible. h. At the Department of the Treasury's request, members of the Office of Communications met with the Acting Director of Telecommunications to assist him in developing standard operating procedures for Treasury's communications center. i. The SAFE Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Early Capability System began daily operation with the DIA Defense Special Security Communications Systems-message center on 23 May. The SAFE-DIA system is now collecting message traffic from two DIA message centers to build the DIA analyst document file. 3.
