Items or Events of Major Interest that have Occurred During the Preceding Week A. DO Support: A significant number of photographic prints were produced over the past-weekend and Monday for various DO projects and briefings. Included in the rush requests were: 1) 2) 3) B. World Factbook Production: Final proofs are being prepared prior to printing the 1983 version of the World Factbook. The number of copies requested this year will total 16,128, and because of this large volume, completion is not expected until the latter part of June. C. Joint Publications Research Service (JPRS) Meeting: Representatives from P&PD met with representatives from JPRS to discuss future plans for printing JPRS reports and possible P&PD involvement. Agreement was reached on a two phased approach for addressing JPRS requirements. Phase I will entail a joint feasibility study on P&PD's assumption of JPRS printing support. Phase II will encompass the electronic handling and manipulation of data used for the publication of JPRS reports. This phase will require extensive evaluation by JPRS. Headquarters Auditorium: A Memorandum of Understanding on P&PD's assumption of the Headquarters Auditorium functions has been forwarded to the Director of Logistics and the Director of Training and Education for consideration. If approved, P&PD will provide all scheduling, teleproduction, and audio-visual support for Auditorium activities, and also teleproduction support to non-training related Headquarters functions. II.
