Items or Events of Major Interest that have Occurred During the Preceding Wee A. DDA Visit to P&PD Buiilding: The DDA, A/DDA, and the A/DL toured PEPD Building for approximately o r on Friday, May 6. They were given live demonstrations of the EOCOM Laser Platemaker and the Ilford Color Camera and also inspected the installation area of the Two-Color 50" Press. Although time was running short after the demonstrations, there was a walk-through of the entire facility. B. Two-Color Press Status: Installation of the new Two-Color 50" Press continues at an excellent pace. All electrical work is complete, and the roller installation segment is also finished. The full testing and diagnostics phase will take place next week; and if all is successful, it may be possible to run live material during the week of 25 May. C. State Department Counter-Memorial: Approximately 10 of the 30 color separation maps which will be printed in the Memorial have been submitted. Tests are also being conducted to receive the text material from State Department on Wang floppy disks. Although some material was translated properly, positive results of the tests have not been confirmed. It is an- ticipated that, with the delivery schedule of 17 June fast approaching, activity in this area will be accelerating within the next two weeks. D. Atex Mini-Edit System: At the request of DDI/CPAS, two Atex Mini-Edit terminals have been- relocated from the Publications Center (7G-30 Hqs.) to the Operations Center (7F-33 Hqs.). The request was made in order to provide a capability for the current support editors to enter data on site for the over- night publication requirements. When fully implemented, data will be entered via the Mini-Edit System for ultimate processing on ETECS. E.
