SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Period Ending 5 August 1983
1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI:
None pending.
2. Items/events of interest:
b. Renovations of the reception area in the Ames Building are
scheduled for completion by 15 August.
e. The Director of Communications met with Mr. Carl Brown, Executive
Secretary of the National Communications Security Committee, and reaffirmed
the Agency's support for a "national" cryptographic clearance concept (with
polygraph examination) for all federal civilian employees who have access
to cryptographic material.

i. Representatives of the Office of Security conducted briefcase/
package inspections at Ames and Key Buildings on 28 July. No incidents of
unauthorized handling of classified information were detected.
i. The Offices of Logistics and Security provided briefings to
during his recent
visit to Headquarters.
k. The 64th running of the Special Agents Training Course will be
concluded this week with 14 new Special Agents completing the course.
1. Both the Naval Electronic Systems Command and the Department of
State have entered clearance data into the Community-wide Computer-assisted
Compartmentation Control (4C) System. This represents the initial entry
of non-Agency clearances into the 4C data base.
Security Education Group officer presented a briefing to
personnel Approximately- 30 individuals attended the
briefing which addressed the espionage threat to private industry.
3. Significant activities anticipated during the coming week:
b. On 9 August the DDA is scheduled to address the Graduate Fellows
at Headquarters.
c. The DDA, ADDA, and officers from the Office of Logistics will
meet with Mr. Les Lamm, Deputy Federal Highway Administrator, on 11 August
at Headquarters to discuss the use of the George Washington Memorial Parkway
relative to the new building.
