Items or Events of Major Interest that have Occurred During the Preceding Week A. Digital Prepress Activities: The technical and cost evaluations are continuing on the proposals submitted in response to the RFP for the OL/PTPD Automated Page Makeup System. After appropriate coordination with OL/Procurement Division, it is anticipated that the Technical Evaluation Team will travel next week to visit responding vendors in order to elicit necessary clarification information on the proposals. B. MIS Activities: On September 9, 1983 members of the OL/P&PD STAT Plans, Programs, and ystems Staff met with Engineering Divi- sion, Office of Data Processing, for a demonstration of the Intermec Bar Code Reader and hand-held OCR Reader. These models are being explored as a means of automating some of the data input requirements of the new P&PD MIS. The OL/P$PD representatives were impressed with the speed and accuracy of the equipment during the demonstration. C. Office of the C troller Support: The CIA FY 1985 Budget Estimate is in various stages in the printing plant. The three volume report, con- taining approximately 1,100 pages, is scheduled for delivery on Thursday, 15 September. D. Equipment Modifications: 1. The Two-Color 50" Press has been down during this week for equipment repairs to the ink fountain roller and the delivery chain. It is anticipated that the equipment will be operational on Monday, September 19. 2. A new laser head was installed on the Laserite Plate- maker during the past week. Testing is complete, and this equipment is now operational after a seven day shutdown. II. Significant Events Anticipated During the Coming Week A. Dicomed/IBM Communications Packa e: Next week Digital Equipment Corporation is sc e u e to insta the DEC/IBM communications package for the Dicomed Color Recorder. When installation is complete and after appropriate software changes are made by both Dicomed and ODP, OL/P$PD will commence testing of the on-line interface between the Dicomed Recorder and the ODP/VM System.
