King Director of Logistics SUBJECT: Report of Significant Logistics Activities for Period Ending 3 November 1983 F I 1. Progress Report on Tasks Assigned by the DCI/DDCI: No tasks assigned during this reporting period. 2. Items or Events of Major Interest that have Occurred During the Preceding Week: b. Grounds Project: Planning is underway to remove the damaged fence from the front of the Office of Central Reference's antenna on the Headquarters compound. Plans include replacing the fence with a landscaped barrier of shrubbery on three sides of the dish and painting the base of the structure dark green. The work is due to be completed before winter. c. Color Print Production: During October, a record number of color prints were produced by the Color Section of the Printing and Photography Division. Primarily because of the Agency rebadging project and a growing backlog for miscellaneous requirements, the Color Section produced 44,000 prints. Average monthly print production has been approximately 22,000. LIMS: On 27 October, a successful System Definition Review (SDR was conducted. Booz-Allen and Hamilton's (BAH) presentation of how system requirements will be accommodated in various Computer Program Configuration Items (CPCIs) was well received. The Government Caucus resulted in agreement that the goals of the system definition phase of the LIMS project had been met. BAH will now move into the preliminary design phase of the project with the Preliminary Design Review scheduled for late February 1984. Proposed revisions to the LIMS System Objectives document, as prepared by OL and OF, are complete and will be submitted to the LIMS Project Manager this week. The LIMS Quality Assurance Group (QAG) will audit these changes and evaluate associated Discrepancy Report resolutions. Upon approval of the document, it will be haselined through standard Quality Assurance procedures. f. Directorate of Intelligence (DDI) Buyout of NBI Equipment: n 31 October 1983, a meeting was held with the Analytic Support Group (ASG/DDI), Director of Data Processing (D/ODP), interested ODP offices and Office of Logistics representatives for the purpose of discussing the merits of NBI's unsolicited buyout proposal. Given DDI's current interest and long-term word processing plans and the cost savings to be realized over the next four fiscal years, it was agreed that the government should take advantage of NBI's proposal. The proposed buyout is scheduled to be presented to the Agency Contract Review Board on 15 November 1983. g. Delta Data Systems Corporation: On 27 October 1983, negotiations with Delta Data were conducted for an FY 1984 maintenance contract for Delta Data's Electronic Data CRT Terminals utilized by many offices throughout the Agency.
