WEEKLY REPORT FOR PERIOD ENDING

I. Items or Events of Major Interest that Have Occurred
During the Preceding Week
A. Digital Prepress: Test results on the Office of
Development and Engineering's (OD&E) imagery data were received
from EOCOM Corporation. EOCOM produced a printing plate of the
OD&E-supplied magnetic tape data using EOCOM's Raster Image
Processor (RIP) on the Laserite V laser platemaker. The results
were impressive considering that this was EOCOM's first attempt
at imaging the data. These test results will be shown at a
Briefing Board Transmission System (BITS) meeting on
14 March 1984.
B. ADP Activities: The contract for installation of a
raised floor in Room G-16, Printing and Photography Building, was
awarded to Liskey, Inc. Liskey, Inc. will begin installation of
the raised floor on 14 March. The Office of Communications is
expected to begin installation of cables, cable trays, and the
new MUX after completion of the raised floor.
C. Copier Activities: Xerox Corporation has informed P&PD
that they will have two new Excalibur (Xerox 9500 replacements)
copiers available for test and evaluation in mid-May 1984. The
Excalibur will be placed in the Bindery and Reproduction Center,
Rm. GJ-56, for testing.
D. Customer Support: The Dicomed Recorder was utilized to
produce 44 viewgraphs and 24 slides on 12 March. Sixteen of
these viewgraphs were generated by Design and Presentations
Center, P&PD, for the Office of Personnel for use in a DCI
briefing.
E. P&PD/OTS Joint Stud : The draft concept paper on the
joint OTS/P&PD staff study on printing and photographic
production requirements was approved by all concerned parties,
typed in final, and sent forward for signatures. The study will
begin on 15 March 1984, with a scheduled completion date of
20 July 1984.
