INFORMATION AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT STAFF
WEEKLY REPORT FOR PERIOD ENDING 18 APRIL 1984
1. Progress Report on Tasks Assigned by the DCI/DDCI:
No tasks assigned during this reporting period.
2. Items or Events of Major Interest that have Occurred
During the Preceding Week:
a. DAS
(1) Technical specialists of the ASAPS system
from SD and LSD/ODP will visit IMS/DO today to evaluate the
possibility of converting their Wang Alliance records of
accountable property to ASAPS. This action stems from a
Report of Audit in which IMS was found wanting in terms of
an acceptable system. An effort will be made to create a
Wang-to-RAMIS conversion package that will avoid the
rekeying of individual property records. (ASAPS presently
has no queue of customers awaiting system use.)
(2) Technical sources are being queried to
determine if a Wang terminal can be substituted for a Delta
Data when the first work package of LIMS becomes
operational. This would involve a Wang interface through
VM to the GIMS-based LIMS data base. The interlinking of
terminals (Wangs, Delta Datas, PCs) is a long-range ODP
objective; it presently appears doubtful that the Wang
terminal can be successfully substituted within the next
nine months.

SUBJECT: IMSS Weekly Report for Period Ending 18 April 1984
As a followup to a Preliminary Design Review
action item, representatives from the LIMS development team
visited the OTS procurement team on 12 April. The purpose
of the visit was to determine if the needs of the
decentralized teams have been adequately addressed in the
requirements and preliminary design of LIMS. It was the
concensus of those in attendance, which included DC/PMS/OL
and C/PMS/DDS&T, that the needs of the teams have been
accommodated. It was agreed that Booz-Allen & Hamilton
will provide representatives from the various procurement
teams with a thorough briefing on the procurement functions
of LIMS well before critical design begins.
