Items or Events of Major Interest That Have Occurred During the Preceding Week: a. Request for Proposal (RFP) ForF___]Optical Character Readers: On 17 July 1984, the Agency Contract Review Board (ACRB) granted approval to enter into a sole source contract with for the purchase of 55 commercial version optical character readers (OCR) for the Office of Communications (OC). Request for Proposal (RFP) is being issued to to solicit pricing for the of the initial contract is b. Community Information Retrieval System (CIRS), Additional Tasks: In response to a request from the Intelligence Community Staff, a contract was negotiated and awarded to the Mitre Corporation to perform additional tasks in support of the Community Information Retrieval System (CIRS). The cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) contract will continue the effort started 18 months ago by the Mitre Corporation to study and develop specifications for the CIRS. The final negotiated contact runs though 31 December 1984 and has a CPFF value of $147,089. c. Contract for ICADDS Software Support: In response to a request from the Office of Current Production Analytic Support (CPAS), a labor-hour type contract was issued for in-house software support. This software support is necessary to enhance the Interactive Cartographic Analysis Design and Drafting System (ICADDS). Performance under the contract is expected to begin on 6 August 1984 and will be renewable on a fiscal year basis through FY87. The total projected value of the contract is $450,000. Relocation of Headquarters Telephone Cable: Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia (C&P) is presently relocating telephone cables at the Headquarters compound. This work was initiated by two letter contracts that were delivered to C&P on 25 April 1984. These letter contracts were to be definitized by 30 May 1984; however, C&P failed to submit a cost proposal, as required, despite numerous phone calls. Finally, on 23 July 1984, C&P submitted a cost proposal. This proposal has been sent to office of Finance, Commercial & Audit Division (OF/CSAD) for audit purposes.
