King Director of Logistics SUBJECT: Report of Significant Logistics Activities for Period Ending 30 August 1984 1. Progress Report on Tasks Assigned by the DCI/DDCI : No tasks assigned during this reporting period. 2. Events of Major Interest That Have Occurred During the Preceding Week : a. New Building Communications Program (NBCP): The Office of Communications OC is preparing a major solicitation package for acquisition of a nonsecure telephone system, secure telephone system, and intrabuilding data distribution system in conjunction with the NBCP. This competitive request for proposal is scheduled for release to several potential offerors on 30 September 1984 with contract award anticipated in mid-January 1985. b. Purge on Obsolete OC Stock: An interim report was submitted on 21 August 1984 to the Director of Logistics and the Director of Communications by the Joint OL/OC Inventory Review and Reduction Team. To date, 233 of 264 line items (55 of these located have been marked for disposal. This represents an inventory value of approximately tl.4 million. Work on 25X1 25X1 ,, .. . New Building Project: On 28 August, Chief, New Building Project Office/OL, and representatives of Headquarters Operations, Maintenance and Engineering Division/OL and the operations maintenance contractor met with the Smith, Hinchman and Grylls Associates design team in Detroit for a presentation on the utility support systems in the new Head , uas ._~rs Building and the renovated powerhouse. ~~ e. Northside Utility Lines: The General Services Administration (GSA) indicated that the contractor responded to GSA's "show cause" for termination of the contract letter by claiming that the leakage problems being experienced with the new underground chilled water lines were not his fault and that further corrective actions would be completed "under protest." However, according to GSA, the contractor has begun excavation of the remaining underground chilled water line joints to test for leaks on an expedited basis and, at this point, plans to uncover all remaining joints if necessary. Additional leaks had been discovered the week of 20 August 1984. The contractor is scheduling a 10-hour-day workweek to complete this corrective action by 4 September 1984. h. Hydraulic Barricades: The steel posts and hydraulic units have been installed at the Route 123 entrance to the Headquarters Compound, and the hydraulic units are in place at the George Washington Memorial Parkway entrance.
