period of time suffered by P&PD Prepress personnel. A video
tape on proper lifting techniques was shown to all dayshift
Prepress employees, followed by a general question and
O answer session with the SS representative. Several
problem/concern areas were identifie
briefed the Division Safety Officer and the Chief, Office of
Management Support, n P '?Li
- 'D P) and offered recommendations to correct some of
the problems.
D. Television Support:
1. The P&PD based foreign standards converter for
the videotape replication system was brought on-line on 5
November 1984 in time to meet a priority deadline of 7
November 1984 from the DDO,
This new unit will allow us to satisfy customer requirements
for quick turnaround of foreign broadcast materials to a
format that is compatible with video equipment of US
manufacture. At the moment, we are limited to one-way
conversions (foreign to US). The backordered options for
this unit are expected to arrive by the end of this month.
At that time, we will be able to convert US video into
foreign standards for playback overseas.
2. Photography Branch personnel responded to an
unusual request from a component of the DDO--the
reconstruction of two badly damaged videotapes. Since the
Branch is not set up to support this requirement, the
salvaging procedure had to be accomplished manually to
prevent further damage to the original videotape. Copies of
the reconstructed tapes were given to a very satisfied
customer is less than 16 hours.
E. Miscellaneous:
0
Analytical Support Group: Representatives from
Systems Staff and Prepress Branch met with representatives
of the Office of Current Production and Analytic Support
(O/CPAS), and two Analytical Support Group (ASG)/DDI to
discuss inputting finished intelligence documents to VM via
magnetic tape. This procedure will be a precursor to the
two-way bisynchronous line from ETECS to VM. Tests will be
run during the next week to ten days to determine the
practicality of performing this service in terms of resource
requirements from the ETECS center.
