IMAGERY EXPLOITATION GROUP
Responsible for the analysis, on an all source basis,
of Dimagery in support of the national
intelligence effort, for the accuracy and complete-
ness ofall substantiveinformationandmeasurements
developed in the course of that analysis, for addi-
tional specialized tasks of analysis and evaluation
of Dimagery as called for by higher au-
thority and for the presentation of the results of the
Center's imagery analysis effort to the Intelligence
Community.
NATIONAL PHOTOGRwrrfC INTERPRETATION
CENTER
The National Photographic Interpretation Center is
charged with the analysis of Dimagery in
support of the national intelligence effort; the pro-
vision of services of common concern to various
departmental imagery analysis organizations; and
the maintenance of an R&D capability to develop
and apply modern technology to the imageryanalysis
process for the benefit of the imagery exploitation
organizations of the intelligence community.
PRODUCTION SERVICES GROUP
Responsible for the development and maintenance
of National Base of Image-Derived Information files
in accordance with COMIREX guidance, for the op-
eration of the Center's computer-driven information
processing and data retrieval facilities, for the op-
eration of the Center'sgraphic,photographic,printing
and other reproduction facilities, for intelligence re-
search and reference services, for the maintenance
of a central photographic file, and for the operation
of a dissemination and control system and courier
services.
PLANNING, PROGRAMMING & BUDGETING STAFF
Responsible for developing, coordinating and imple-
menting the Center's centralized planning, program-
ming, budgeting, and requirements control services;
for development of Center goals and objectives; for
defining and form ulating plans, programs and budgets
to meet those goals and objectives; and for process-
ing, validating and monitoring all requests for pro
ducts and services with due regard for the Center's
missions and resources.

TECHNICAL SERVICES AND SUPPORT GROUP
Responsible for providing information, advice, and
assistance regarding the application of advanced
photo-related sciences to imagery exploitation, for
the development of imagery exploitation equipment
and techniques, and for performing administrative
and support functionsinlogistics,finance, personnel,
security, and communications.

response to community objectives.

PRODUCTION CONTROL STAFF
Responsible for staff support to the Chief, Imagery
Exploitation Group in matters pertaining to require-
ments analysis and production control, publications
standards and planning, development of new re-
porting formats and techniques and the processing
and approval of multidivisional reports.
WESTERN GEOGRAPHIC DIVISION
Responsible for the exploitation in accordance with
the National Taskin Plan of all imagery of the
USSR, Eastern ~ Europe, Middle East,
Africa, and Western Hemisphere except for those
targets specifically assigned to the Missiles and
Space Division and the Scientific Division.
EASTERN GEOGRAPHIC DIVISION
Responsible for the exploitation, in accordance with
the National Tasking Plan, of all imagery of China,
North Korea, and South and Southeast Asia except
for those targets specifically assigned to the Missiles
and Space Division and the Scientific Division.
MISSILES AND SPACE DIVISION
Responsible for the exploitation, in accordance with
the National Tasking Plan, of all imagery pertaining
to COMIREX targets within the following categories:
Deployed Strategic SSM and AMM Facilities, Missile
Ranges, Strategic SSM and Space facilities, Air
Launch Facilities, Naval Launch Facilities, Tactical
SSM Facilities, and SAM and AMM Facilities.

OPERATIONS SUPPORT STAFF
Responsible for providing that staff support uniquely
required by the Chief, IEG, in matters relating to
long-range plans, operating procedures and budgets,
equipment development and maintenance personnel,
security, and career development.
SCIENTIFIC DIVISION
Responsible for the exploitation, in accordance with
the National Tasking Plan, of all imagery pertaining
to COMIREX targets within the following categories;
Deployed Communications/Electronics and Radar
Facilities, Strategic Weapons Industrial Facilities,
Atomic Energy Facilities, Communications/Electron-
ics/Radar R&D Facilities, and Chemical, Biological,
Radiological (CBR) Facilities.
PHOTOGRAMMETRY DIVISION
Responsible for providing and maintaining aphoto-
grammetricmensuration capability tomeettheneeds
of the IEG in accordance with the National Tasking
Plan and of external components as directed.

AUTOMATED INFORMATION DIVISION
Responsible for the establishment, coordination and
maintenance of an automated base of information
derived as the result of imagery exploitation, for
designing scientific and data processing procedures,
developing mathematical models and constructing
computer programs, and for providing computer-
driven on-line services.
PRODUCTION SERVICES GROUP
Responsible for the development and maintenance
of National Base of Image-Derived Information files
in accordance with COMIREX guidance, for the op-
eration of the Center's computer-driven information
processing and data retrieval facilities, for the op-
eration of the Center sgraphic, photographic, printing
and other reproduction facilities, for intelligence re-

Responsible for providing a custom photographic
laboratory facility, a reports production capability,
a capability to design and prepare two- and three-
dimensionalvisual aids, and a lithographic printing
and binding facility.
RESEARCH AND REFERENCE DIVISION
Responsible for preparing and providing collateral
material in direct support of imagery exploitation
needs, the research and maintenance of reference
files in support of stated requirements, developing
and implementing control systems to ensure proper
handling and dissemination of classified material,
and the maintenance of a central photographic file.

Responsible for providing information, advice, and
assistance regarding the application of advanced
photo-related sciences to imagery exploitation, for
the development of imagery exploitation equipment

Responsiblefor performing technical and procedural
analyses, for defining objectives and guidelines, and

DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING DIVISION
Responsible for the preparation and administration
of the NPIC Research and Development Program, for
providing a pool of engineering and technical experts
and advice in the significant technological fields
pertinent to advanced imagery exploitation techni-
ques and equipment, and insuring that the total
community requirements for imagery exploitation
techniques and equipment R & D are satisfied.
APPLIED PHOTO?SCIENCE DIVISION
Responsible for directing and accomplishing initial
phase handling requirements, and for providing eval-
uations and analysis of operational systems and
products.
ADVANCED RECON TECHNOLOGY STAFF
Responsible far conducting and coordinating liaison
activities for NPIC concerning the design, develop-
ment, modification and operation of collection sys-
tems, remotesensorsandtheirproducts(bothcurrent
and future), and forkeepingNPlCcomponentsappro-
priatelyinformed.
ENGINEERING SUPPORT DIVISION
Responsible for the testing, and evaluating all new
equipment developed for or by NPIC, for equipment
maintenance, and for equipment modifications.
SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION
Responsible for providing Center Logistic, Security,
Training, Personnel, Finance, and Commo Services.
