Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/03/02 :CIA-RDP87B00858R000300360019-4 Director, Office of Legislative Liaison 5 August 1985 N01~; TO : DDC I RE: The EP-1 ,o i`ty query as to preferred strategy came f1-om Gary Chase's assumption that Durenberger would be interested in the Administration's druthers. Gary did not know, at the time, ho~a Roth's individual Members had voted, since they were poled, individually, by phone o The question was on striking Section 603 (the EP-1/2 section) from the Intelligence Authorization Bill. Voting no were Eagleton, Stevens and Cohen; voting ~yes_ were Roth, Durenberger, Nunn, Levin, Chiles, McC. Mathias, Glenn, Gore, Cochran and Rudman. o Given Durenberger's vote, with Roth and Nunn, it may not be worth further effort. It would certainly be undersirable to have a floor vote with ad hominem (Bill Casey) overtones. o On the other hand, because it was a~polled vote, Durenberger and Roth might (doubtful) be willing to listen to a phone call from Don Regan.
