Package Responding to Chairman Hawkins' Request for Agency Views
on Amendment to H.R. 1524.
NOTES
Attached for your review are two letters. The first is to
Chairman Hawkins of the House Education and Labor Committee. It
transmits to him the Agency's views on a proposed exemption for the
employees of Agency contractors to H.R. 1524, a bill which would
effectively bar the private use of polygraph examinations. The
development of the exemption grows out of extensive negotiations we
have had with staff on the matter.
The second is a letter to CINIB requesting expedited OM
clearance for the first.
We ask for your concurrence in both and your signature on
the letter to (1 B.
Because of the time considerations involved, we are asking
for expedited review by CND.
Although the exemption only takes care of the Agency, CIS, the Ca>:munity
and other relevant agencies know iat we hope to proceed on a community-wide
