The individual -- who has spent a number of years in the military -- was asked why he was interested in a position at the Agency. He responded that he had had a long term interest in public service. The interviewer responded that CIA was not a "public service organization" but rather served a small segment of the government. I bring this to your attention becuase I strongly feel that the professional ethic of an employee of the CIA must be founded on the realiza t the Central Intelligence Agency fundamentally s es the in Brest of the American people. Employees m t understand hat service to the public includes acco ntability to th public as well.
