Washington, D. C. 20505
On behalf of the staff and Command of the San Uiego Chapter, The Military
Drder of the World Wars (P~iO'~iW) I r;: spectfully request that your office
provide a speaker for our regular monthly luncheon meeting of 18 Jun=_ 1955.
Cur Chapter is composed of regular and retired men and women officers from
all branches of -he Service. We meet regularly every third Tuesday of each
month throughout the year to hear speakers from both military and civilian
disciplines. During this past year our list of speakers has included the
Special Agent in Charge of the San Diego FSI Dffice, the San Diego Police
Chief, County Sheriff, County District Attorney, P1arine Pecruit Depot
Commanding General, Former surgeon General of the U. ~. fJavy, submarine
Group Five Com~~ander, and the Commander Fighter/airborne Early Warning Wing.
A speaker representing the Central Intelligence Agency would be a most
important addition to this roster.
Approximately 135-145 members of the Chapter attend our meetings which are
held in the Admiral Kidd Officer's Club on Narbor Jrive in San Diego. P.
sociel hour from 11 a.m, to 1~ noon precedes the luncheon which starts
promptly at noon. The spanker is introduced at 1 a. m. and adjou_nment is
sch=.dined for 1:30 p.m.
I hope yo~~r office will be able to provide a sneaker even though wa cannot
offer an honorarium. Dur membership would like to hear of the true nature
of the role and responsibility of th,= CI.A as can be reported within the
restrictions of security. The media provide some information, but we deem
it important to hear directly from our government agencies the true facts
of thiir missions.
I would appreciate a prompt answer to this request so that appropriate
publicity can e publisheu in our Chapter newsletter.rlease respond to me
