1. As you may know, an Interdirectorate task force
invented the Personal Security Course some months ago to help
us better prepare CIA people for the threat they face overseas
from terrorists and criminals.
2. The foundation was a block of hands-on self defense--to
which was added elements that the task force thought was needed
by our people overseas.
3. The attached was prepared by a student. It is evidence
that the Course is doing what the Task Force had hoped for. I
pass it along because it is interesting reading and because it
gives a real feel for what the Course is about.
4. As an Agency, we still face the issue of how to better
prepare our people for overseas duty. And, I will soon be
formally proposing--among other things--that this Course be
given to everybody going overseas PCS and to frequent TDYers.
(No small undertaking).
