Dear Mr. Casey:
This is to advise you that the Honorable Andy Ireland, a Member of the
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, will be accompanying Members and
staff of the Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control on an official
travel mission to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina
during the period August 3 through 19, 1985. Mr. Ireland will travel under
the auspices of the Speaker of the House in accordance with his letter to the
Secretary of State dated March 7, 1985.
Expenditure of funds for the payment of such expenses as may be required
is authorized by Section 1314 of the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 1954
(31 U.S.C. 22A). Due to the excessive costs in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and
Argentina, a subsistence allowance is authorized according to Department of
State regulations.
Further information concerning this trip may be obtained from Mrs. Sharon
Curcio at 225-4121.
With best wishes, I am
Lee H. Hamilton
Chairman
