Dear Mr. Chairman:
In response to the Committee's request for
clearances for Mr. James Clifton, we initiated processing to
obtain the necessary. clearances. There was, I believe, some
misunderstanding as to the preceding years' time span required
for the background investigation done on Mr. Clifton. We are
resolving that issue and will continue the processing as soon
as it has been corrected. Mr. Clifton has been advised of this
situation. We expect it to be settled within the next week.
We will be in touch with Mr. Clifton directly for the
necessary briefings as soon as the processing has been
completed.
