SUMMARY:
In July 1985,1 (donated papers to the Central
Intelligence Agency. They constituted his life's work at the Library of
Congress and private research dealing with the Soviet Union. Two young women
from CIA picked them up from 0 At that time he requested the women to
find out if the Agency could put a dollar value on his papers so that he
might use this figure for income tax purposes. The women never responded. He
did receive, however, a signed receipt of acceptance from CIA (Mr. K. can't
read the signature). He did give me the name the phone number of one of
the women.

at the time they picked up the material after having checked with STAT
OGC, they told that it would make more sense for to put a value STAT
on his material, The material includes some 5,000 index car s, plus some
open source material.)
I called0 back and advised the same thing. He asked to think about it STAT
and would call me back in an hour--which he did. He decided to put the value
at $3,000.00. (I asked him how he happened to call the legislative office. He
said he thought his request should be handled by the legal department--I think
the operator just gave him the wrong number.)
